In today’s age, we are all concerned with how we can better help our planet. Weddings should be no different. There are plenty of ways you can keep your special day eco-friendly while still having all of the elegance that comes with weddings. Here are a few eco-friendly tips that you can try for your wedding to stay green.
1. Shuttle service
Providing a shuttle service for your guests can help reduce the amount of vehicles making the trip to your wedding. Whether you have a different location for your ceremony and reception or just want to provide a safe ride home for your guests, you will be saving on gas. Shuttles also reduce the risk of anyone drinking and driving after your wedding, which is always helpful.

2. Reusable Decor
When thinking about your decor for your wedding, think about pieces that can either be reusable after the wedding or repurposed during the wedding. You don’t want to go out and buy something that you’ll only use once. That’s a waste of materials as well as money. Try to go for items you may have already in your home that can be used, like a mirror for a seating chart or welcome sign. You can also try renting decor. This way you’re not buying anything unnecessary and you know that it will be used again by someone else. By doing this, you’ll be cutting down on miscellaneous items as well as saving money.

3. Digital Invites or Recycled Paper
We all know the significance of getting an invitation in the mail for a wedding. However, have you ever thought about how much paper that is? Now in the digital age, people are leaning towards wedding websites or digital invitations to reduce the use of paper as well as cut down on costs from mailing and shipping. If you do however feel strongly about sending a physical invitation, try going with a recycled paper option. That way you're not creating any additional paper loss.
4. Locally sourced farms
The food at a wedding is one of the most important aspects of a wedding. Try going with a caterer that sources their ingredients from local farms. You’ll be supporting local businesses, eating fresh, and reducing emissions from the transportation of ingredients from other locations. Farm fresh ingredients can add a tasteful element to your wedding that everyone will continue to talk about long after your special day.

5. Biodegradable confetti
Instead of paper confetti that you’ll have to clean up at the end of the night or sparklers that can give off some air pollution, try going for something biodegradable. Try real or dried flower petals, bird seed or even seed paper confetti. These options will not create any additional pollution and can actually be good for the grass or ground. They can also still give you gorgeous photos while staying green.
